How To Change The Battery On Your Victorinox Swiss Army Knife Mini Light

!±8± How To Change The Battery On Your Victorinox Swiss Army Knife Mini Light

If you own a keychain size mini light swiss army knife by Victorinox, at some point your battery for the mini light feature will eventually run out. By "mini light", I mean a pocketknife that is 58 mm (about 2 1/4 inches) long when closed. It is simple to change and will allow you to enjoy your lighted swiss army knife and all its functions for years to come.

Battery changing steps:

Hold the mini light knife in your left hand with the red/white cross and shield logo facing up. On the right side of the top scale you should see a small hole - it is on the side so you'll have to slightly rotate the knife in your hand to see it. It is towards the lower end of the scale on the right. Take a paperclip and bend it so you can use it to poke into this hole. Carefully poke into this hole and push out the old battery. The old battery and a little plastic piece the same color as the knife scale will drop into your hand. Be careful not to lose that little plastic piece! Insert a new battery with the positive side facing up. Put the little plastic piece back into the side of the knife to hide/cover the battery you just put in.

The Victorinox Swiss Army Brands part number for the battery you need is 22068. The battery is a Panasonic CR 1025, 3V. Your new battery should be good for approximately 2 to 2 1/2 years under normal operation of your swiss lite knife. Your handy little swisslite should be as good as new.

Can Females Earn Cheaper Car Insurance?

!±8± Can Females Earn Cheaper Car Insurance?

According to statistics, women have a better driving record than their male counterparts - and this is reflected by a number of car insurance providers that offer policies with special value for females.

The market is already competitive with the likes of Sheila's Wheels and Diamond marketing exclusively to women drivers, and now More Than has got in on the act by launching its own women's car insurance.

It claims it confronts the aspect of driving that women find most stressful and offers features that appeal directly to females such as a mobile phone locator, a replacement vehicle and priority roadside assistance. It also offers female friendly repairers, handbag cover and a child car seat replacement.

Both Sheila's Wheels and Diamond offer handbag cover, female friendly repairers and a courtesy car as part of their packages.

Clearly the market for female-only car insurance is more competitive than ever, but is it really advantageous for women to consider these policies?

Research from a comparison website would suggest not. It found that a 30-year-old woman with a Ford Focus, Renault Megane or Vauxhall Astra would typically pay around £269 through a female-only car insurance provider. By contrast, the same driver could pay just £174 for a policy elsewhere.

Of course this doesn't mean that women-only brands are uncompetitive. Their policies are often tailored towards females and their prices can be low. However, each insurance quote will differ dependent on your circumstances so consider all the possibilities by using an online comparison tool.

Also look for other ways to reduce premiums - such as by paying annually, fitting a car alarm, parking in a garage at night and driving at restricted times.

Car Restoration TV Shows

!±8± Car Restoration TV Shows

Be it a Lamborghini or a Ford, a car is a car and does not fail to invoke the pride of its owner. Even historically, people have ascribed personalities to their favorite modes of transport, giving vehicles an existence of their own.

People today continue to attach what might seem like undue attention to their cars. Individuals go to the extent of giving names to their vehicles and once such personalization occurs it is hard to let go of the four-wheeler even if it is to get a new one. In such a scenario, the destruction of a vehicle in an accident can be devastating to the owners' psyche, even in the event of them not sustaining physical injury. Recognizing this potential, shows were created for television to depict restoration techniques for damaged or out-of-order cars. These shows were designed not only to help distraught owners with their disheveled cars, but also to generally educate the public about the methods to repair minor problems with their vehicles. With time, these shows also became a medium for car companies to advertise their products and showcase some of their new models. Thus, car restoration TV shows evolved in the car shows that are so popular today.

Perhaps the most famous car restoration TV shows are the ones that take a look at the restoration of classic and vintage cars. Vintage models are no longer in production and as a result getting hold of their spare parts and mechanisms can be quite difficult. Classic car restoration shows inform owners of the substitutes they can use for the internal machinery as well as tricks to enhance the vehicle's mobility. Details of the availability of vintage cars on the market as well as a price guide to classics is shown on occasion for those who wish to trade their classic cars. Certain restoration shows also give tips on the makeover of cars. This includes all techniques from plastic coating the vehicle to personalizing the interiors.

Odometer Tampering: Tell Tale Signs

!±8± Odometer Tampering: Tell Tale Signs

Buying and selling used cars can be a difficult process. It is made more difficult by fraudulent cases, where a car's resale value is increased by tampering with an odometer. You can however detect this, with the tips provided here.

Car manufacturers have made it difficult for fraudsters to tamper odometers; but savvy criminals find ways to turn back the clock on used cars to sell them for a higher price. Removing 5,000 miles from a car that has travelled 50,000 miles does not sound like a big deal, but it can make the car more expensive by ,000; which let's face it, for a ,000 car is instrumental!

So here are some tips to detect Odometer tampering:
Acquire a copy of the vehicle history; CarFax and AutoCheck are good sources for this information. This will contain some very valuable information like registration number and emission data. Look at the dashboard to examine scratch marks and loose screws. This could point towards odometer tampering, but it is not always conclusive. For an analog odometer, check to see that mileage numbers are aligned. Check if the odometer stick during a test drive. This is a sure sign of tampering. Service stickers can give you useful information about the car's true mileage. Check the maintenance records, if some pages are missing, you should raise a question. Look for signs of wear and tear. Correspond them with odometer to get a true, complete picture. If you know an independent mechanic, ask him/her to carry out a vehicle inspection. A mechanic should be able to tell signs of odometer tampering easily.

All in all, if in doubt, walk away! There is no point over paying for a car, especially when you are being scammed.

Riding Lawn Mowers - The Quick and Easy Way to Mow the Lawn

!±8± Riding Lawn Mowers - The Quick and Easy Way to Mow the Lawn

For anyone that needs to mow the lawn on a frequent basis throughout the summer season will start to long for one of those riding lawn mowers. These resemble a small tractor type unit and are ideal for anyone with a ¼ acre plus to keep neat and tidy.

Electrical models of these ridable mowers are available, just as the normal push mowers. The batteries will generally be able to cover approximately ½ acre of lawn before a recharge is necessary. They don't create any fumes and are in general quite. However, they are unable to provide as much power when compared to a gasoline powered rider mower, and can get caught up in dense bushy spots.

Some units are equipped with reel blades that shoot cuttings in a forward direction, but these tend to used by the more professional lawn maintenance specialists. The cutting blades are typically located underneath the deck on which the seat rests, which can generate some vibration. But with a good padded seat attached will help to reduce this to an acceptable level.

The smaller units are known by the term 'riding mowers', but the idea is basically the same. The only difference is really just in the horsepower of the motor and physical size. Extra horsepower is often preferred, but effectiveness will also come into play. A well constructed model will not need as much horsepower to complete the job.

If you have a flat garden lawn than less effort will be required and therefore less horsepower would be necessary. On the other hand, if you have to struggle on hilly areas, more energy will be needed to maintain those. For that, the lawnmower tractor would be your number one choice.

The motors will range from 17-24 horsepower which is still significantly below the 150-300 horsepower range of the usual car engine. As you will be paying out more for those with the higher horsepower, be certain that it will be put to use before laying down the additional cash.

The cost will also be affected by those mowers with the wider cutting areas. The blades on the lawn tractors typically range form 42-54 inches. The wider blade has the ability to mow the lawn faster, getting the task completed sooner.

If you on the lookout for extra power, it is possible to locate a lawn tractor with 26 plus horsepower and up to 62 inch mowing blades. Few will actually need it, but the additional power will allow it to be used for hauling brush, dirt or tree stumps around in a hook on trailer.

Take a note of the turning radius on the unit you're contemplating. The cost of the mower will be effected by a very tight, or nearly zero, radius unit, but unless you have any areas on your property that are hard to navigate around, this feature will probably not be worth the additional charge.

Sit on the riding mower, to get a feel for the controls and steering mechanism. Be certain that the units made of rigid materials and your sitting within comfortable reach. Riding lawn mowers can range in price from 00 to 00 or more. So, you'll need one that will make the job as straight forward as possible, while at the same time being dependable for years to come.
